From the introduction of beloved characters like Russian scientist Alexei to the continuing drama involving Eleven and the gang, the third installment of the visually stunning show captivated audiences around the globe. So why isn't Stranger Things nominated for any Emmys in 2019?

Fans will be relieved to discover that there's a very simple reason why Stranger Things isn't up for any Emmys this year. The 2019 Emmy nominations were announced on July 16, less than two weeks after Stranger Things 3 hit our screens.

The Emmys have a very specific eligibility period, and for the 2019 awards, it ran from June 1, 2018, to May 31, 2019. As Stranger Things Season 3 came out after the eligibility period had ended, the show will instead be considered for the 2020 Emmys. You can check out the full Emmys calendar over on its website.

The popular Netflix series is already somewhat of a darling at the Emmys, having secured a whopping 30 nominations over the course of its first two seasons. Stranger Things has managed to take home six Emmys to date and will hopefully add to that number next year.

Meanwhile, Game of Thrones has secured a record-breaking 32 Emmy nominations in 2019 for its final season, which aired earlier this year, and is pretty much guaranteed to make a huge impression at the awards ceremony.
