There is no winter outfit that can't be improved with an unexpected pop of color. Don't believe me? Allow Katie Holmes to change your mind.

In her latest New York City street style moment, the Rare Objects director once again exhibited her refined and minimalist wardrobe. This time, Holmes braced the cold in a slouchy cream turtleneck worn underneath a black V-neck knit sweater from Lafayette 148, which featured ribbed detailing along the collar. She layered in a slightly oversize jacket made out of a buttery black leather, which she had previously worn during another casual stroll through the city last November.

To up the ante, Holmes broke up the nearly monochromatic ensemble by wearing crimson corduroy pants, which were cinched at the waist by a black belt with silver hardware. Unsurprisingly, right red accents have become something of a trend in 2024 and—with other stars like Kylie Jenner and Demi Lovato similarly participating—we're sure to see more red statement pieces next season.

Holmes capped off the look with a pair of metallic ballet flats, a white ribbed knit beanie, and large tortoiseshell sunglasses from Marc Jacobs by Safilo.

The actor previously put a different (albeit subtle) spin on the red trend last year. During a late December outing in New York, Holmes added a festive element to her look via a half-moon crossbody bag in a vibrant cherry red shade from Patou. She styled the purse with a long speckled gray coat also from the French brand, as well as wide-leg jeans in a dark blue wash from Another Tomorrow and black leather pointed-toe boots from Freda Salvador.
