Katherine Heigl has opened up about raising her young family and revealed the reason she moved them from Los Angeles to Utah.
The former Grey's Anatomy actress and her singer-songwriter husband, Josh Kelley, are proud parents to Naleigh, 14, Adalaide, 10, and son Joshua, six.
And they had to make a big decision for the family several years ago when they relocated after Katherine had lived in LA for more than two decades.
"I didn't know how to raise them in L.A., so I felt like I could do it here," she told E! News of their choice to move. "I could be more on top of things that scare me and I could be more on top of the kinds of friends they have and places they're going, the kind of activities they're involved in — and what the hell they're doing on their phones!"
Katherine said the alternative life they carved out meant she could relax more. "I could kind of decompress and let that hustle part of me go — a little bit," she shared.

"I don't know that in any career you can ever completely stop hustling, but being able to separate it a little bit and choose those times of hustle versus just being in it constantly was really important to me."
The mom-of-three travels to Vancouver to shoot her Netflix show, Firefly Lane, meaning she has to leave her family behind for periods.
"I can't easily anymore take them out of school systems and put them into whole new cities and environments," she explained to the outlet. "I had to live with that aspect of what I do for work, I have to leave my family."

Katherine continued: "I call the kids probably two, three nights a week. I'm not FaceTiming every day—I'm at work, having crap cell service or terrible WiFi. You have to be able to let it go."
The family also share their stunning home with a plethora of adopted animals but she admits, her husband has put his foot down to inviting any more furry friends along.
"If I bring one more animal into this home," the 44-year-old quipped, "my husband will leave me, and then I'm alone with eight dogs, three cats and three children. So, we really need to avoid that. I need the partner and the help."
