Long before he became the 43rd president of the United States (and before he became your favorite rain poncho meme), George W. Bush's first time in the White House was actually decades before his inauguration. His first time at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. was actually in the late '60s—when he went on date with Richard Nixon's daughter.

"You're not gonna believe this: 1969, I had a date with Tricia Nixon," Bush said on Jimmy Kimmel Live. In what seems like a scene straight out of My Date with the President's Daughter, young George Bush showed up to the White House "in a purple Gremlin" (his exact words) to take the First Daughter out.

Tricia Nixon in 1969.

The two attended a dinner that his father, George H.W. Bush, hosted with the astronaut Frank Borman. (Bush Sr. is actually the one who arranged the date) And yes, the Secret Service was present.

"It was interesting," he said.

Since he was letting loose in his sit-down with Kimmel (telling dating stories from his youth and all), Bush also let out a few laughs when the host slipped out a few Trump jokes. The two discussed the former president's parents, George H.W. and Barbara Bush, who couldn't attend Trump's inauguration in January because they were admitted to the hospital.

"I can't help but feel like maybe he was faking it a little just so he didn't have to go to the inauguration," Kimmel said.

Bush really enjoyed that one:

But, you know, how he responds to Trump one-liners doesn't really change how he responded to Hurricane Katrina or the recession.
